Public Park

Public Park, Galati in Romania

It was first established in 1864 by Iorgu Ghica. Under the authority of Alecu Moruzzi, the garden was extended, pine trees were planted and a flower garden was built. After the First World war, the garden covered 12 hectares (=0.12 square km, 0.0463 sqare miles or 29.6526 acres)and had two large greenhouses. It is located close to Nae Leonard Theatre and the Student's Complex, offering a beautiful place for recreation and relaxation. It also offers an excellent view-point to the Brateș Lake, the Train Depot, the Shipyard, and the Central Train Station.

The Pavilion, Galati

Enjoying a fine Sunday morning in the Public Park :) This place is called the Pavilion, and is often used for social events, like the International Festival of Orchestra "Iosif Ivanovici", when a band played here. The 6th edition of the festival was on the 31st of July 2010.

On Tue, February 8, 2011 11:02:44 PM I received one of the greatest news in my life. I had just become a trusted author on 360cities. This has been a long time dream of mine. From the moment I saw the first panoramic picture on Google Earth ( it was taken on the streets of Seville, Spain - a city I would later end up visiting ) all my efforts were bent towards perfecting my shooting technique....the goal was ofc the full spherical panorama, (a feature not so easily achieved shooting with a kit 18 mm lens - roughly 100 pictures for each panorama). Now, I see this not as the end of a long road, but merely the beginning, and I promise that no place I will visit will be left without a full spherical panorama. Just stick around ... and I will lend you my eyes ;)

Another important landmark for the city of Galati is it's 100m tall communication tower. This interesting construction can be seen from almost everywhere in Galati and it also houses a restaurant at the top. It is even said that in rough wind, the top shifts sideways :)
